Now for the games ... in the first game (9:00 a.m. on Saturday) versus Nobody's Biz, we did not hit well as a team, but some timely hitting and a big 11 run fourth inning (including Ray Gosha's MONSTER Grand Slam) lead to a victory. The game was also hi-lighted by Pete Leone's 4 RBI's, Ray Gosha's 5 RBI's, Brett Young's 4 runs scored and 1.000 batting average, Kevin Chavis' nice running catch in left-center and Brett Young's nice running catch in right-center. The second game (3:00 p.m. on Saturday) versus ConneXion, was a hard fought battle but unfortunately we come out on the short end of the stick. We had plenty of opportunities to take this game, but squandered every one!! The hi-lights in this one would be Rob Allen, Dave Solorzano and Matt Dickey's 3 RBI's each, Ray Gosha's 1.000 batting average, and the very fast double play turned by Pete Leone (SS) to Dave Solorzano (2B) to Greg McIntyre (1B). The third game (6:00 p.m. on Saturday) versus Madden Cruisers was close until we hit in the top of the fourth inning, where we exploded for 11 runs and never looked back!! Game hi-lights: Ray Gosha's 5 RBI's and 340 foot triple (it almost cleared the fence), Dave Solorzano and Greg McIntyre's batting 1.000, Stan Gaylord's 4 RBI's, Pete Leone's great diving catch at short, Dave Solorzano's over the head catch in shallow right-center from second base, and the team .675 batting average. The fourth game (8:00 a.m. on Sunday) versus Fear Not, was the first game where we were home team ... but it wasn't enough. We had one bad inning with three errors, giving up 12 runs, and just didn't have enough to come back. In this game, Pete Leone had another great diving catch at short, Ray Gosha had 4 RBI's, Dennis Cabana, Ray Gosha and Rob Allen batted 1.000, and Brett Young had a nice catch in deep right field. The Top Hitter Award (for Saturday) went to Dave Solorzano (.818), and the Top Hitter Award (for Sunday/Saturday) went to Rob Allen (1.000/.600). The two MVP Awards (as voted by the team) went to Ray Gosha (.786 BA, 14 RBI's and 2 Homeruns) and Brett Young (.636 BA, 13 Runs Scored and 3 Doubles). Congrats!! They each got a $10 Gift Certificate to SportMart for their effort. Tournament wrap up ... we lost to the top two teams of the tournament ConneXion (1st Place) and Fear Not (2nd Place), but never faced the third place team Vigilantes.
